Artist Statement: Sculptural Paintings
My painted constructions emerge as transmutations of profound encounters with the world around and within me. They are not mere representations but transformative expressions that memorialize fleeting moments of revelation—those ephemeral instances that occur in the liminal space between observation and understanding, moments that would otherwise slip away unrecorded.
My artistic practice weaves together accumulated experiences, seeking to distill meaning from salient impressions: a sudden awareness of color, the urgency of shape, the pulse of movement. These works are born from moments of complete sensory immersion—when consciousness becomes fully enmeshed with nature's boundless energy and the boundaries between self and environment dissolve.
Each construction serves as a vessel for the transcendent understanding that emerges from this deep communion with the natural world. Through layered, textural dialogues between material and memory, these pieces invite viewers to access their own moments of revelation. The interplay of light and form becomes essential to the work's meaning—shadows are not incidental but the natural consequence of being, integral to the contemplation of presence and perception.
In this practice, the act of making becomes a meditation on the very nature of awareness itself, transforming fleeting encounters into enduring forms that speak to our most essential experiences of connection and recognition.
